What Lantern is, technically

Lantern is a static website. There is no server running our code, no database, and no user accounts. Every calculation happens on your own device, in your browser, using a script your browser downloaded along with the page.

Your bets never leave your browser

The odds, stakes, spreads, prices and descriptions you enter are used to do arithmetic on your device and nothing else. They are not transmitted to us, not stored, and not logged anywhere — not in a database, not in analytics, not in any file. When you close or reload the page, they are gone.

This is a design decision, not a policy promise: the site has nowhere to send them.

What we do collect

Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people use the site and which parts they use. It records things like:

• that a visit happened, and roughly when
• which pages were opened — which tells us whether people use the parlay calculator more than the prop calculator, for example
• general device and browser information, and an approximate location derived from your IP address (typically city-level, not an address)
• where you arrived from, such as a search engine or a link

It does not record anything you typed into a calculator. Google Analytics is a third-party service and its own privacy terms apply; you can read them at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your email address, only if you give it to us. Some pages offer a box where you can leave an email address to hear about future features. Filling it in is entirely optional, and nothing on the site is withheld if you don't. If you do submit it, the address is sent to Formspree, the service that handles our forms, along with a note of which page you submitted it from. We use it to email you about Lantern and nothing else. You can ask us to delete it at any time — see Contact below.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so that repeat visits from the same device can be recognised and counted as one person rather than several. Lantern sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators will keep working normally if you do.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data. There is no arrangement, paid or otherwise, under which anyone receives information about you.
• We do not share anything with sportsbooks or prediction markets. Lantern takes no money from them and sends them nothing.
• We do not run advertising on this site, and we do not host advertising or retargeting trackers.
• We do not create profiles of individual users, and we could not connect a bet to a person even if we wanted to, because bets are never transmitted.

Services we rely on

Three third parties are involved in running this site, and each has its own privacy practices:

• Netlify hosts the site and, like any web host, receives the requests your browser makes for pages.
• Google Analytics provides the usage statistics described above.
• Formspree receives an email address if you choose to submit one.

Your choices

• Use the calculators without giving us anything. That is the normal case.
• Block cookies, or use a browser or extension that blocks analytics. Nothing breaks.
• If you gave us an email address and want it removed, email us and we will delete it.

Children

Lantern is an information tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Sports betting itself is age-restricted where it is legal, and those rules are set by your sportsbook and your jurisdiction, not by us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change ever materially affects what we collect, we will say so plainly rather than quietly editing the text.
